Brief
Keemun Black Tea is the best Chinese black tea, honored as “the queen of black tea”. First produced in the late 19th century, it quickly became popular in the West and is still used for a number of classic blends. It is a light tea with characteristic fruity and slightly smoky notes in the aroma, and a gentle, malty, non-astringent taste reminiscent of unsweetened cocoa.
Origin
The tea has been planted in Qimen County, Huangshan City of Anhui Province for more than 100 years. Qimen has superior natural conditions, many mountain trees, warm and humid, deep soil layer, abundant rainfall and many clouds, which is very suitable for the growth of tea trees. In addition, the main variety of local tea trees – Castanopsis eyrei seed has rich contents and high enzyme activity, which is very suitable for the manufacture of Gongfu black tea.
Manufacture
One bud and 2 to 3 leaves are picked as raw material standard. After withering, rolling and fermentation, the buds and leaves change from green to copper red, with transparent aroma, and then baked slowly until dry. After the black tea is made, it must also be refined. The refining process is complex (up to 12 steps) and takes a lot of time.

Best for mornings
Chocolatey goodness in my cup of Keemun! Chocolatey with slight fruity notes. A very solid Keemun as they are my fave. An uplifting tea for mornings. Very economical for an everyday cuppa. Brewed western style.
