Brief
Huoshan Huangya (yellow bud) is produced in Huoshan County Anhui Province. It used to be the tribute tea in Ming Dynasty, specially made for the emperor. Like the other yellow tea, this tea is rare, with very limited output very year.
The dry leaf is straight and long. The color is yellow and green. The aroma is like fresh meadow in spring. The liquor is yellow, green and bright. The taste is quite fresh and mellow with grassy note. The wet leaf is slightly yellow and bright.
Origin
Huoshan County belongs to the north subtropical humid monsoon climate, which is located in the North-South climate transition zone. It is greatly affected by the monsoon and has four distinct seasons. Huoshan County is generally mountainous, and the terrain tilts from southeast to northwest. At an altitude of 500-800 meters, the land is fertile and the water source is sufficient, which is suitable for the growth of tea plants.
Manufacture
Yelow tea is light fermented. In yellow tea processing, after the leaf has undergone its initial firing, this early spring bud-only pluck receives a ‘smothering’ step in a unique process known in Chinese as ‘men huan’.
