Brief
Produced in Bing Dao area, grown only on old trees, Bing Dao Puerh is considered as one of the most valuable teas in China because of its quality and rarity. There is a slight bitterness to the taste on first sip that changes to a mellow sweetness later. The taste is long lasting, and the tea liquor is chewy, rich in mineral.
Origin
Bing Dao Village is located at the farthest north regions of Puerh tea production in Yunnan. The weather there stays relatively cool due to the high elevation of this village at roughly 6,000 feet. Bing Dao is a place known to everyone in tea industry of China, and its popularity is no less than that of Banzhang mountain.
The village is located in the middle of the mountain. The houses in the village face south and have a wide view. The village does not have snow or ice. It is like spring all the year round. It is green, with abundant water resources and fertile land. It is a good place for people to live. The village was a pure Dai village before 1904. (*The Dai nationality in China and the main ethnic group in Thailand are branches of the same ethnic group .
Culture and history
During the reign of the emperor Chenghua (A.D.1447-1487), someone lives in Yiwu Ancient Tea Mountain (one of the largest tea growing regions in China) brought some tea seeds to Bing Dao and used an effective approach to breed it, some of them are still living yet.
The Bing Dao ancient tea garden is the original seed garden of Mengku large leaf tea. According to relevant historical records, in the 1485 (the Ming Dynasty), the governor of Shuangjiang sent people to get more than 200 seeds from the Yiwu ancient tea tree area and successfully cultivated more than 150 plants in Bing Dao Village. There are still more than 20 trees in existence, about 500 years ago.
