Brief
Honey wood is a sister tea of our Light Breeze High Mountain Oolong. They are both Taiwanese High Mountain Oolong variety (Soft Swig) transplanted in Yunnan. The degree of oxidation is different – Honey Wood is about 85% fermented and Light Breeze is around 40%. That makes the look and the taste are also different – Honey Wood is more black with honey taste, whereas Light Breeze is more green with natural taste.
Material & process
Honey Wood is made of the tea leaves that were transplanted from Taiwan’s high mountain oolong species in Yunnan. The manufacturing process also adapts the same way of Taiwan. In terms of style, the tea is light and sweet, which is very different from oolongs in Northern Fujian. Taiwan tea’s flavor changes due to the influence of Japanese tea. Therefore, although this tea is produced in Yunnan, the actual flavor is more biased towards Taiwan Oolong.
Origin
The tea is from Tengchong Yunnan Province, an important town on the southwest border of China, connected to Myanmar. Tengchong has the densest volcanic and hot spring in the world. Tea gardens are located at 2300m above sea level, with forest coverage of more than 80%. The annual rainfall is more than 1900mm and annual average temperature is about 12 ℃. The soil is very fertile, and the content of organic matter in volcanic soil is very high.
Tea Garden – Organic Certified
Tea garden is in Mingguang town, which is 4 kilometers away from the border of China and Myanmar. The altitude is 2300 meters here. It snows every year. It is one of the few Plateau snow tea gardens in the world.
The tea garden is organic certified by both Chinese standard and EU standard. If you walk in the tea garden, you will see many sheep that are kept in the garden for weed control.

Green –
I bought both Honey Wood and Light Breeze. I would like to say honey wood is good for breakfast with milk to start your day, while light breeze is much suitable for lunch after, to continue your day. They are both so good.
